Oshima 8-Chome Park

This awesome park is hidden out of the way, and from certain angles, this park looks like an Octopus. But personally, I think it looks like it’s straight out of a movie Star Wars' Tattooine. Especially that low rounded door and all the sand.

The design of the jungle gym is what sets this park apart from the rest of the parks in Tokyo. Not only is it awesome to look at, but it is tons of fun to play on. The small entrance has stairs leading up to two slides built into the structure.

The entrance is too small for an adult to climb up the stairs. To the amusement of your kids, you might be able to crawl up on all fours. However, just letting the kids explore things by themselves and hearing their screams echo through was well worth the trip out here.

Where did she go?! Playing tag

The grounds around the entire Jungle Gym is filled in with sand, with plenty of nukes and crannies to play in. The jungle gym also has several towers with different ways to climb up. All the towers are connected to the main structure with these long open bridges that give the octopus shape.

Other than the jungle gym, the park grounds have pretty much been overgrown with grass/weeds. Oh and there is a very standard... traditional slide in the corner.

Juno’s Favorite

Slide more she will

Surprising enough do you know his favorite was not actually the slides or the park in general, it was the stairs. She just loved hanging out on the stairs away from me laughing in acquiring all through the park.

Warning The surrounding neighborhood is not the best in the world, but it's not like there were homeless people lying around the park. In fact, the park was surprisingly clean. I say surprisingly because I got the sense that it doesn't get maintenance a lot. Parts of the jungle gym that are broken have been covered by tires. Some of the walls are graffitied with profanity on the slide. But on the bright side, there were no broken bottles or trash.

In the end This is a unique jungle gym and I hope it gets enough attention in the future that they fix it up and keep it clean, I would hate to see this park be completely replaced like so many others have.
