Kinshi Park
Kinshi Park (AKA “Big Red Spiny Slide” park) is an all-around awesome park and has earned its way into the Family Favorite. There really should be more jungle gyms like these.
Two Parks with one stone
This is a really spacious park, with two completely separate sections, each with their own jungle gyms. One is for the older kids (who can climb, and slide by themselves) and another for toddlers.
Juno’s favorite
Juno calls this park the “Big Red Slide” park, because of the three story big red twisty slide at the center. This is hands down the most popular part of the park amongst all the kids. The slide is high enough to give parents the heeby-jeebies, but relax, it is well protected with a fully enclosed cage.
The kids love to hang around up there, planning their descent down the big red slide.
Wait! There is more…
On the other side of the park, there is a toddler-friendly area that is respectively big as well as a sandbox equal in size. Both areas have their own little jungle gym. Inside the sand box, there is a conveyor belt which Juno loved made her own imaginary sand-pie factory.
Having a separate section for toddlers is great, so you don’t get a lot of bigger kids pushing them around. However, having to watch over both kids at two separate parks takes a lot of multi tasking. Also, the ground mixing with the gravel made for a few slippery falls for the younger ones.
There is grass too!
At the entrance of the park, there is an open and spacious expanse of grassy area. It is perfect for those family picnics, playing with a ball or just going for a lazy stroll. In the corner, there is a fountain that Juno particularly loves to stick her feet into. (no one else does, probably cause it’s dirty). During the summer they have fountain shows on the hour.
How is the area?
Despite the fact that Kinshicho has a bad rep for being lower class, I feel everything on the north side of the station is safe and clean. It is also conveniently located between two shopping malls, which means family friendly food courts, more than adequate changing rooms and the occasional Emergency McD’s for the kids and Starbucks for, me!
